- 4th biennial conference of Maharashtra State Chapter of AMBI was organized by department of biochemistry, Krishna institute of Medical Sciences, Karad on 1st & 2nd March 2019. Scientific session contained 10 guest lectures, a panel discussion on competency based UG/PG curriculum and a post graduate quiz. Oral paper presentations by faculty were 20 and 8 by P.G. students.
- Pramod Ingale, Professor and Head Dept of Biochemistry, LTMMC Medical College and Sion Hospital, Mumbai was appointed as President: Association of Medical Biochemists of India.
- Dr Pramod Ingale was nominated as Corresponding member of IFCC Task Force on Ethics (TF-E)
- Barnali Das, Consultant, Laboratory Medicine, Kokilaben Dhirubhai AmbaniHospital & Medical Research Institute is an Executive Member, Scientific Division, International Federation of Clinical Chemistry & Laboratory Medicine (IFCC), 2018 – 2023.

3rd Maharashtra State Chapter Conference of Association of Medical Biochemists India was organised by department of Biochemistry, Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University Medical College, Pune on 28th and 29th of April 2017.
A total of hundred and eleven delegates have attended the conference all over from the state of Maharashtra attended the conference for which Maharashtra Medical Council had awarded 3 credit points for 2 days conference.
Hon’ble Dr. Shanti Naidu, Hon. Secretory AMBI was the chief guest, Dr. P.M.Bulakh, DirectorBCUD, Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University, was the guest of honor; Dr. V. A.Saoji, Principal and Dr. S.K.Lalwani,Vice Principal and Medical Director presided over the inaugural function.
Theme of the conference was “Expanding the horizon for shaping the futture,” A souvenier was released during this function at the hands of chief guest.
Scientific Programme, started with Dr. Anil Malleshappa, Prof. of Biochemistry and chief of Clinical Biochemistry. JNMC, Belgaum who delivered a lecture on current Problem “Biochemistry of addiction” Dr. Jagganathan, Associate Medical Director, Abbott Diagnostics enlightened the audience about a very recent topic “Active vitamin B12.” The key note address was delivered by Dr. Shanti Naidu Hon. Secretory AMBI, consultant Biochemist care Hospital, Hydrabad, she highlighted the delegates on “Coagulation studies- A biochemical perspective”. Quality control and Data Management is very crucial for any clinical laboratory. A very informative lecture was delivered by Mr. Sivsankar K, Application Manager,Biorad while Mrs MamataPednekar Application Manager, Randox informed the audience.about the various research parameters available with randox and their RIQAS programme. Dr. VamanKhadilkar, Pediatric Endocrinologist discussed the “Caveats in interpretation of pediatric Endocrime Testes” while Dr.Swarup Shah a molecularScientist form Hinduja Hospital Mumbai delivered a lecture on “Molecular Diagnostics the future of human health care”. In today’s busy life how one can manage the time schedule, a very interesting talk was delivered on “Time administration” by Dr. AjitSontake, Prof. and Head Dept. of Biochemistry KMS Karad. A Team of D.Y.Patil Medical College, Pune had conducted a brain storming P.G.quiz.This was an enriching experience for the delegates as well as the participants. Over 20 scientific oral papers were presented by the faculty members and P.G. students.
Second day started with a very informative lecture on all aspects of “Proficiency testing” by Dr. Pramod Ingale, Prof. and Head of Department of Biochemistry LTMC Sion Mumbai, followed by a very informative lecture “Automation in Biochemistry” by Dr. Manisha Patwardhan , Head –Operations Golwilkar Metropolis Pune. Dr. JayeshWarde, Consultant and quality Manager, Mission Hospital, had come all the way from Mudurai to enlighten on “Point of care testing” in diabetes mellitus. Averyinteresting session in the afternoon was arranged on “How we actually made Biochemistry Teaching Learning Interesting” and the speakers were Dr. MamtaHegade Prof. and Head Department of Biochemistry SKNMC, Pune and Dr, SmitaNaradAsst. Prof. Department of Biochemistry NKPSIMS, Nagpur.Dr. DhananjayBhale, Prof. and Head Department of Biochemistry, MGM Medical College, Aurangbad delivered a very lucid lecture on “Endocrine Disrupters” while ShilpaAsegaonkar, Asst. Prof. Department of Biochemistry GMC Aurangabad highlighted ,on “Risk Stratification of Cardiac Markers”
After the two days academic feast the conference ended with the Valedictory function.

“Moving from basics to advanced biochemistry” 27th-28th Feb.2015

Department of Biochemistry, Lokmanya Tilak Municipal Medical College, Sion, Mumbai in association with AMBI organised 2nd Maharashtra Chapter Conference “AMBI BIOCON 2015” on 27th and 28th February, 2015 at Lokmanya Tilak Municipal Medical College, Sion, Mumbai. Dr.Pramod Ingale, Professor and Head, Dept. of Biochemistry, at this institution who is also the State Representative of AMBI was the organising secretary. The theme of the conference was “Moving from Basics to Advanced Biochemistry.” As per the theme, topics were included on day to day issues like, Laboratory Quality Controls, Error management in clinical Laboratory, IFCC standardisation and Harmonisation, Literature search, Innovative changes in UG and PG Biochemistry Curriculum. Advances in clinical biochemistry like Setting up of high end diagnostic laboratory, Prenatal screening, New born screening, Human Metabolome Profiling etc were also discussed. We were pleased to have our AMBI National Secretary Dr.Shanthi Naidu, as guest of honour for inaugural function. She delivered a talk on “Serum and urinary neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin(NGAL) – early biomarker for AKI in cardiac interventions”. Total 150 delegates which included 67 residents and 83 faculty members. We also had 5 registrations from Gujrat Chapter and 1 resident each from Karnataka and Lucknow. The PG students showed an overwhelming response with 31 posters and 15 oral presentations

Maharashtra State Chapter Conference
The first AMBI Maharashtra State chapter conference was held on 5th & 6th April 2014 at MGM Medical College, Aurangabad. Dr. Dhananjay Bhale, Professor & Head of Biochemistry at this institute was the organizing secretary.
The conference had a huge response with more than 125 delegates from all over Maharashtra which included faculty members, private practitioners & PG students. Various important topics were presented by leading biochemists, like Journey of clinical biochemistry, laboratory automation, Newer role of HDL, NABL accreditation, Inborn errors of metabolism, Medicolegal aspects in clinical Biochemistry, Newer tumour markers etc. In addition there was a panel discussion on Medical Biochemistry curriculum.
It was decided to have it as a yearly event. Dr. Pramod Ingale, Professor & Head of Biochemistry, LTM Medical College, Sion, Mumbai has volunteered to conduct the next conference.
To sum up it was an excellent academic feast & a great gathering of Medical Biochemists of Maharashtra.
