The Gujrat Chapter of AMBI was started in  September 2014 .

ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES CONDUCTED:

  1. CME on “NABL- Impact on laboratory medicine”
    Date: 28th Sept 2014      Venue: Govt. Medical College, Surat

One day CME on “NABL- Impact on laboratory medicine” was organized with inaugural speeches by Dr. R.K Chavda , Additional Dean GMC Surat and   Dr. M. K. Vadel Medical Superintendent of the New Civil Hospital ,Surat. Key note address was delivered by Dr. Pramod Ingale on an overview on NABL accreditation process. Dr. Puneet Saxena spoke on Postgraduate curricular reforms: an NABL perspective. He talked about the effect of corporatization of health care system and growing need of persons having experience of working in accredited lab. Emphasized need of including ISO-15189 and NABL-112 document , CLSI guidelines etc. in postgraduate curriculum. There was an interactive lecture by Dr. S.M. Patel on NABL accreditation: Role of open source software technology. Brain storming discussion on challenges in NABL accreditation in government hospitals was held ,with Dr. S. Ghosh and Dr. Shilpa Jain as moderators. Also there were 23 papers in poster category and 10 papers in oral presentation category. Dr Dhara Kanani and Dr. Depak Parchawani were declared as winners in poster and oral presentation respectively.

  1. CME on “Clinical Biochemistry Instrumentation”

Date: 28-30/09/2021                  Venue: GCS Medical College, Ahmedabad

Department of Biochemistry, GCS Medical College, Ahmedabad, conducted a state level 3 day CME cum workshop on the theme of “Clinical Biochemistry Instrumentation” from 28th -30th  September 2021. The trainers were Dr. G. Jeyachandran & Dr .G. Sumitra from PSGIMSR, Coimbatore and Dr. Kiran Chauhan, GMERS MC, Gandhinagar and Dr. Piyush Tailar, GMC Surat. Roche provided old machines for demonstration purpose. It was attended by 26 participants that included faculty members as well as residents from various medical colleges of Gujarat. The sessions were interactive and provided hands on experience on all aspects of instrumentation like concept and performance characteristics of photometric instruments, modifications in fully automated- semi automated analyzer, concepts of ISE & galvanometers, closed Vs open system instruments, AMC/ CMC contract review components, validation and verification of IQ/OQ/PQ. Gujarat Medical Council granted 9 credit hours for this CME. The course ended with certificate distribution and impressive feedback from the participants.

  1. Workshop On Internal Auditors’ Training Program as per ISO 15189:2012 & updated NABL 112

   Date: 28-30/03/2021                  Venue: SSG Hospital, Vadodara

Department of Biochemistry & Laboratory services of  Medical College Baroda & SSG Hospital, Vadodara conducted a 3 day workshop on “ Internal Auditors’ Training Program as per ISO 15189:2012 & updated NABL 112” from 28th -30th March, 2022 The 38 participants from Medical Colleges and Hospitals of Vadodara district joined this program. Dr. Kiran Chauhan & Dr. Bhaskar Thakkar from GMERSMC, Gandhinagr & Dr. Piyush Tailor from GMC, Surat and Dr. Sandip Nanda & Dr. Neelam Pandya from GMC, Vadodara were the speakers and moderators. The feedback from the participants was excellent and it ended with certificate distribution. The workshop was awarded 9 credit hours by the Gujarat Medical Council.
